Apprenticeship FAQs

An apprenticeship is a paid job where you gain real work experience while studying towards a recognised qualification. As an apprentice, you are employed by a company and spend most of your time working, while also completing structured training delivered by Dynamo Training. You will typically spend at least 20% of your working hours on off-the-job training, which supports your development and helps you build the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for your role.
Apprentices are paid a salary by their employer. The amount you earn depends on your age, the industry, and your employer. All apprentices must receive at least the National Minimum Wage for apprentices, but many employers choose to pay more. As you gain skills and experience, there may also be opportunities for pay increases.
Apprenticeships are available to individuals aged 16 and over who live in England and are not in full-time education. Entry requirements vary depending on the level of apprenticeship and the industry, but generally you will need a genuine interest in the sector and a commitment to learning and working. Some roles may require certain qualifications, such as GCSEs in English and Maths.
The length of an apprenticeship depends on the level and programme chosen. Most apprenticeships take between 12 months and 4 years to complete. The duration will be clearly explained before you apply, so you understand the commitment involved.
At the end of your apprenticeship, you will receive a nationally recognised qualification relevant to your industry. This may include a diploma or certificate aligned to your apprenticeship standard. You will also complete an End-Point Assessment to demonstrate your competence in the role.
Dynamo Training provides dedicated support throughout your apprenticeship. You will have access to a tutor or assessor who will guide your learning, monitor your progress, and provide regular feedback. Our team also offers pastoral support to help you overcome any challenges and stay on track to complete your programme successfully.
The main difference is that an apprenticeship allows you to earn while you learn. Instead of paying tuition fees, you receive a salary and gain real workplace experience alongside your qualification. University is typically classroom-based and may involve student loans, whereas apprenticeships focus on practical skills and direct employment from day one.
Yes, completing an apprenticeship can open the door to higher-level apprenticeships, further professional qualifications, or permanent employment with your employer. Many apprentices progress within their company or move into more senior roles as they gain experience and qualifications.
