As an apprentice, you'll have the chance to collaborate with seasoned early years professionals in environments like nurseries, preschools, and childcare facilities. Your role will ensure that children feel secure, supported, and inspired to flourish through engaging, play-based learning experiences.

What You'll Learn

Throughout this apprenticeship, you will cultivate pivotal knowledge, skills, and behaviours essential for practical work in early years environments, including:

  • Encouraging children's learning and development through enriching play
  • Promoting children's health, safety, and emotional well-being
  • Observing, assessing, and documenting children's progress
  • Assisting with personal care routines and daily activities
  • Communicating with children, parents, and colleagues with clarity and compassion
  • Understanding the importance of safeguarding and your responsibility of care
  • Working cohesively within an early years team

In addition, you will complete the following components:

  • Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner
  • Functional Skills in English and mathematics (if necessary)
  • A professional portfolio showcasing your development and competencies

Progression Opportunities

After successfully completing the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship, you can move on to:

  • The Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship
  • Exciting roles such as Early Years Assistant or Nursery Practitioner

With additional training and experience, you can further advance into senior practitioner or leadership positions.

Funding and Support

Levy-Paying Employers: You can fully utilise your Apprenticeship Levy contributions to cover the costs of your apprenticeship training.

Non-Levy Employers: The government covers 95% of training costs, so you'll only need to contribute 5%. Plus, there's full funding available for learners aged 16 to 21.

Assessment
  • During this program, you'll build a compelling portfolio that highlights your practical skills and professional growth. At the conclusion of the apprenticeship, you will participate in an End Point Assessment (EPA), which comprises:

    - A professional discussion

    - A knowledge test

    - A workplace observation to showcase your practice
